Back in the Day!

One of my favorite places in Savannah is Back in the Day Bakery. My friend Dana introduced me to the bakery in the summer of 2006. They are by far the best cupcakes I have ever had. They also have a good selection of lunch items, but I go for the sugar. I'm sure I'll visit at least once (maybe twice) while in town this summer. Yum.

Bakery owners Cheryl and Griffin have been featured on the food network a few times, mainly on Paula's shows. You may have seen them. You can read more about the bakery and Cheryl's blog at http://www.backinthedaybakery.com/ .

The Graduate!

I actually finished grad school back in February in the winter mini-semester, but Amberton University only holds two graduation ceremonies a year, so I graduated this past weekend.

I started grad school in January on 2007 at Amberton University. It is a small, private Christian University located here in the Metroplex. It was once and extension of Abilene Christian University. Even though there were times when the schedule of working and grad school was hard, I did enjoy my time at Amberton. I owe a big thanks to all my friends and family who encouraged me to stick with it. I received a Master of Arts in School Counseling and have earned School Counselor Certification.

My parents were in town for the weekend to help celebrate. We had a great time. They gave me a new camera for graduation. Thanks Mom and Dad.

Here are some pics from the weekend. Steffi thinks she may have some pictures of me walking across the stage on her camera, if she does, I'll post them tomorrow.

Beach Hats!

Tybee Island, Ga.

Tybee Island Lighthouse. Amy and I have climbed to the top. We may skip that this year:)

This summer when Amy Jane and I go to Savannah, we will also visit Tybee Island for a little fun in the sun. Tybee Island is a quirky little Beach town just outside of Savannah. I was lucky to find a great beach hat at Marshal's earlier this Spring. A Beach hat is essential for all beach visits. I personally prefer the wide brimmed straw variety like these.

Classic and Fabulous.

For the Drama Queen.

But here are some other cute options as well.

For the Texas girl.

For the light packer.

Have a good weekend, and remember it's time to start shopping for that perfect Beach Hat.

Friday Favorite!

Downtown McKinney, Texas - Favorite Day trip from Big D!

This past weekend The Fly Girls headed to downtown McKinney, TX. I have heard people talk about McKinney for years, but I had never been. It's about a 35 minute drive from Dallas. The downtown square is home to many quaint shops and cafes. In the center of the Square, is the McKinney Preforming Arts Center. The stage production of Steel Magnolias was playing last Saturday. Unfortunately we couldn't make the show, we had planned to leave earlier.

We all were able to find a few things we couldn't live without:) I'll post later about my big Flea Market Find!

We ate at The Pantry, just of the square. It was great. I highly recommend the strawberry pie. The Chicken Spaghetti was good as well. http://www.thepantryrestaurant.net/

I hope to visit again soon. Have a great weekend!
