Ice Ice Baby - Snow Day!

I woke up this morning to find that the schools were closed. Snow Day! How glorious. Its not really snow as much as it is a thin layer of ice. I quickly turned off the radio and went back to sleep. By 8 am Zoe was ready for her morning walk. She hesitated at first but then decided to venture down the back steps. She stayed on the sidewalk most of the time, stepping funny when walking on the crunchy grass. Here are some pictures of the snow and ice. I have an appointment in Garland this afternoon, I 'm not sure if I'll try to go just yet. If you got a day off I hope you enjoy it, if not, sorry.

I Heart Zoe - Road Trip!

This weekend I met up with the Rents and Mama Thelma in Palestine. I know the real reason for the visit was so my parents could see Beau. I was glad Nick was able to join in on the family fun. I made cookies in the shape of little Zoe for the car trip and they indeed made the trip delightful. It was also nice having someone keep me company along the way.

Oh, Steffi. Yes the Liberty does take corners on two wheels, good thing I was driving a Compass. At least I wasn't texting while I drive:)

Nick was impressed with your fast texting skills.

Thanks Dad!

I bought this desk in Canton a few months ago. It didn't look nearly as good when I bought it. My handy dad fixed it up for me. I already thought that I got a good deal on it, but now that it looks so good I really think I got a great deal. It's nice having a handy dad. I appreciate all the cool things he does for me. Cleaning up junky furniture I buy at flea markets or yards sales or dig out of the someone's trash it only one of his many talents. Thanks again Dad, I'm enjoying your handy work.

Free at last, Free at last!

I had Monday off this week due to the MLK holiday. It was good to have an extra day to rest. Nick and I met up with Steffi and family at Dallas hang out and Mexican eatery, Chuy's. The food was good , as always and of course the company was enjoyable. After lunch and a quick stroll through Crate and Barrel I headed over to a local nursery and picked up some pansies to brighten my front porch. Then I picked up Zoe at the groomer. She was in desperate need of a bath and hair cut. Her moderately good behavior at the grooming salon earned her a walk through Petco where she decided on a bag of cookie treats and a package of pressed rawhide bones. Overall it was a good three day weekend, I hope you enjoyed your weekend too.

Me

I never posted the pictures from my cousin Brooke's December 20th wedding. It took place in Natchez Mississippi. I was honored to be a bridesmaid. The church was decorated beautifully for the season and everything turned out very nice. A good time was had by all.

Thanks Aunt Beth!

I would like to thank my Aunt Beth for the two cool pieces of Milk Glass shown in my last post. She gave them to me for Christmas this past year. She knows I collect and only brings me the really unique pieces. She always finds the best stuff.

Charged up!

I think it is always good to re-purpose things in the new year. I've always collected Milk Glass, as you saw in my last post. I usually display it in my kitchen or dining room. It's pretty and interesting to look at, but it really serves not purpose. This year I've decided to put some of it to use.

Use #1 - bathroom - cotton balls and Q-tips

Use #2 - Dining room - key holder and charging station for cell.

We'll see what else I come up with in the days to come.

Who wants a big bulky charging station anyway. I think the Milk Glass turned out much more pleasing to the eye if I do say so myself.

My challenge to all of you, re-purpose or recycle something unused around your home. My goal for this year is to get rid of unused items and only keep the things I really need. SIMPLIFY!

Out with the old - In with the new!

Milk Glass

Sink Skirt - By Steffi

This weekend I decided to re-do my bathroom. My old shower curtain and towels actually belonged to my sister before she got married. I think all together they were about 7 years old. It was time for a change. I have to start by thanking my talented sister, Steffi for helping me with the sewing projects. You will notice the new sink skirt and curtain, both made by Steffi. I helped.
I chose a Shabby Chic shower curtain from Target. The new towels and rug are the new Canopy collection at Wal-mart. The soap dispenser and cup are borrowed from Steffi, she wasn't using them anymore. The Milk Glass is part of my own collection.

One plus side to being single is that you can Girl it up as much as you want and there's no man to complain. Enjoy the pictures.
