Girl Scouts!

It's that time a year again. Even though I am really trying to eat better in this new year, I did order a couple of boxes that I will stash away in the freezer and forget about for a while. I have to order every year and support the Girl Scouts. Growing up in Dumas Arkansas I remember my Brownie days as happy ones. I still remember meeting at the Methodist Church and taking trips to Little Rock to meet Gov. Bill Clinton and receive our Government badges.

This past summer while in Savannah Ga. Amy and I visited the Juliette Gordon Low home. She was the founder of the Girl Scouts and quite spunky too from the information gathered on the tour. She was very crafty and loved the outdoors which was not exactly becoming of a young lady in her day. She enjoyed wood working and welding.

Later in Savannah we took a late night Ghost Tour that walked right past the Juliette Gordon Low home while the guide told stories of Ghost seen in and around the house. Amy's camera was able to capture some sort of orb. I'll have to get a copy of it to post. Spooky!

Holiday Home Tour - Part 2

The only other part of the house I decorate is my bedroom.

You may notice some changes from the last time I showed this room. The room is still pink, but I got rid of all the black and white and I also got some cool vintage furniture from my parents for my birthday back in August.

I painted some of my other pieces off white to go with the new look.

Vintage Snow Village

These old ornaments belonged to my Great Grandmother, Mama Pat.

I got this cute Santa for $4.00 last year after Christmas. The Angel is one of my Red headed angels that my Aunt Beth has given me. I think I've posted about those before.

This is my online Christmas Card. I made a couple of choices and decided on another design, but decided to use this one online for fun.

Betsy's Holiday Home Tour 2009!

Decorating for Christmas is one of my favorite things. I have a ridiculous amount of Christmas decorations for such a small place, but I can't help it. Many of the decorations are sentimental family pieces which is why I love them so much.

Here is part one of my Holiday Home tour. Enjoy!

Welcome. This is my fresh Balsam Wreath. I don't have a real tree so I order a fresh wreath every year to enjoy the scent.

Come on in.

My little Christmas Tree. Stuffed with ornaments I've collected.

My new display shelf!

Even the Ficus Tree dresses up for the holiday.

My music boxes.

The dining room.

The Reason for the Season -The Nativity

The Buffet

Vintage Table Cloth

I'll post again later with part 2 of my Holiday Home Tour. I may also feature some of my favorite decorative pieces and ornaments.
Merry Christmas.

Snow!

It's snowing in Dallas this morning! Ok, it doesn't really look like the picture above, but a girl can dream. If you look up at the sky you can see the snow falling, but if you look at the ground it just looks like it's raining.

Even though the snow isn't sticking its still really cold outside. My car thermometer read 33 on the way to work. Burrrrr Rabbit!

I was reminded how blessed I am as I passed the bus stop this morning. There I sat in my warm car, with heated seats no less, as I watched a group of people shiver in the cold rain while waiting on the bus. Thank you God for providing me with transportation and a warm dry home.

Count your blessings today.

Betsy's Bargains!

I found some great bargains this weekend:)

Friday night Christa and I had dinner at Rockfish. Yum. Then we stopped by Yankee Candle and snagged some deals on the new Christmas collection. We used two coupons and each got a couple of large Jar candles for the holiday season.

Saturday I stopped at a few Yard sales and found a treasure or two. I think I spent a total of $16.00.
Here is my big find. A vintage trunk - Just $10.00! Too bad I can't make it fit anywhere in my tiny apartment. I guess I got so excited about the great deal that I didn't really think about what I'd do with it. Steffi will take it for now, she has room for it and it's great for storage. Someday I'll have room for all my great finds.

I would like to thank Nick who helped me get the trunk out of my car, up the stairs and into my apartment. Then he helped me move the furniture in three rooms as I tried to make it fit somewhere. And last, he helped my put all the furniture back in it's original place when I finally realized the trunk wasn't going to fit. Thanks Nick.

Saturday afternoon I went to J.C. Penny's in search of a new coat. I found this cute red one, originality $225.00 but with the Sale and a coupon I had it came to $49.00. I fab coat for under $50.00 - Snaps for Betsy! Now if it were only cool enough to wear it.
