Holiday Weekend Update - Late!

First, here is a photo of the beautiful flowers Amy sent me for my Birthday.  I said I would post a pic, and never got around to it.

This past weekend was nice.  I really needed the extra day off.  I didn't do anything really exciting, but I did sleep late, see a movie and visit with family.

Friday night - I watched the Baylor Bears beat TCU.  It was a great game.  I'll be honest in saying that I haven't always been a big sports fan.  But in the past couple of years I have learned to enjoy watching Baylor Football and Basketball on TV.  I'm not big on going to Football games in person.  I have a pretty good reason for this, but that's another blog post.  However, I think I've worked through my issues, and might be up to making a game this season.  We'll see.  Besides the game, Waco is a pretty fun weekend trip. There's good shopping on Austin Street, The Dr. Pepper Museum and I kind of need to stock up on some new Baylor stuff (T- Shirts, Car Decal, etc.) - I'm sure Beau would love to visit the Bear Pit and see the Bears.  I'll have to teach how to Sic'em.

I saw the movie, Seven Days in Utopia.  It was a great movie with a good message.  It was a very clean family movie - refreshing in this day and age.  As a Bonus, it stars Robert Duvall.  I have been a fan of his work for years.  The Apostle is one of my favorite movies.  It also has a great message.  I highly recommend both movies.

I also met up with Steffi, Tad and Beau.  We went on to  rendezvous with the Rents where they took Beau home for the week.  I know they are having a blast.

Random news:  I bought a new car last month. I don't think I ever posted about it.  I got a 2011 Hyundai, Santa Fe - Limited in Espresso.  I call her Coco because she's Chic - and brown.

Blog Update!

It's Labor Day!  Time for a little R&R.

I've been needing to update the blog for a while now, but I just never got around to it.  I decided to add a little Fall Decor- Wishful thinking, I guess.  I also updated my blog list and email link.  It's a holiday weekend and I'm staying in Tyler to catch up on rest and stuff around the house.  Maybe I'll get the home office unpacked.  It's the only room I haven't gotten settled since the move. If I finish getting everything in place, I'll finally post the promised pictures of the apartment.  Sorry it's taking me so long.

Enjoy the long weekend!

Birthday Girl!

Thanks for all the kind birthday wishes on Facebook.  I had a great visit with my family in Tyler.  We went to dinner at The Diner then celebrated with Ganache cupcakes.  The family surprised me with a Pandora Bracelet and a Bee charm.  Beau calls me Honey-B, so I love collecting bees.

 The Diner
 Yummy.

Queen Bee, that's me.

Amy sent me flowers at work yesterday.  They are beautiful, I'll post a pic later this weekend.

I've had a great Birthday.  I think 35 will me a good year!

Back to School!

I've already been back at work for over a week now.  So far things are going great.  I really like my new principal and ast.principal.  The atmosphere is so much better then in my  old district.  The people in the school and in the community have been so friendly and welcoming.  I was able to meet some of the teachers this past Friday at our staff retreat.  We went out to dinner afterwards and had a great time.  The campus staff really does feel like a little family.

Here's a look at my office.  I've included some before and after pics.  Keep in mind that we are getting a brand new building next year, so everything will be new and fresh.  I must say that it makes me a little sad to see the 1939 building torn down.  It may be old, but it's full and charm and character.

Before:

After:
I made the crayon wreath for my door. Steffi made the curtains - I helped.  Mom and dad helped move boxes and furniture.  I found an old book shelf that was being discarded by one of the teachers and painted it a cool shade of green.  I think it looks good under my Baylor Bear!

GO BEARS!

This is the only bulletin board I am responsible for.  It's on the main hall across from my office.

The hallways still look a little cluttered, but we have a week to work on that before the students come.

Here is a little sneak peek of how things are turning out at home.  Now that I have the office settled, I'll finish the last minute details at home and post pics soon.

I've visited two churches so far. I still have several more that I want to check out.  East Texas is finally starting to feel a little more like home.

But I still miss Dallas - and my peeps:(

Celebrate good times. . . .

Wow.  It's been a crazy summer already.  I  moved to Tyler in June but have only been there 12 days.  I've been in Nederland this past week for a couple of very important celebrations.  First, my mom retired after 38 years of service in education.  We figured all the stats and realized she has taught every grade 1-8, except 4th and had been both and elementary and high school librarian.  We gave her a little retirement dinner for close friends and family.  Unfortunately, after the party started I forgot to take more pics, so I just have a few from the beginning of the evening.

The dinner was at the Schooner, a favorite local restaurant. The the theme of the party was "Lynn's Forever Summer."  Guests were asked to bring a book for the former librarian's summer reading list. She got lots of great books.  She'll be reading well into the Fall.

Jeff Kuchar made the cake, he also make S and T's wedding cake.  Our friend Linda B. made the delicious strawberry lemonade cupcakes.  Mom's long time teaching buddy, Mrs Turk shared some laughs about all there good times together.  Congrats Mom.

Next we celebrated Beau's 3rd birthday.

There was a bounce house at the church for VBS registration, but Beau thought it was there for his B-Day.

Later, at his party he got  Spider Man,
 Mater mower bubble machine,

A Car's book that makes cool sounds,
 A Spider Man cape,
Some cool sidewalk chalk and lot of other stuff.
 Mater was a big hit.
Bud got his toy chopper out too.

I'm headed back to Tyler tomorrow.  I still have lots to get done before I go to work.  VBS was great.  I worked with the 3 year olds.  It was lots of fun, but I'm glad to have a break.

I promise to post some pics of the new place next week.  Also, I do have some change of address cards that I plan to mail out soon.  Things have just been very busy.

Please note - I have a new email address.

I've been a bad blogger. . . .

Sorry I've been gone for so  long, but I have a good excuse.  I just got the Internet going at my new place a couple of days ago.  I'm in Nederland for a few days.  I came home to celebrate with Mom.  She is retiring after 38  years in education. Snaps for Lynn!  I'll post some pic of our little celebration later.  Also tomorrow is Beau's 3rd B-Day!  We'll be having a party for him too.

I'm almost all unpacked.  I've only had one major set back.  My air conditioner went out last week, so I was in Nederland a few days then too while my land lord had a new unit installed.  All is well now, I just need to get home and get it all finished before I have to start work.

I plan on staying in Nederland until Wednesday or Thursday, then I'm headed back to Tyler for the weekend.  BFF, Christa will be joining me to check out the new digs.

I have lots of pics of the new place to post soon.  I'll also mail out the change of address cards sometime next week.

Later,
B
